ASEM is a forum for dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe on the big challenges of a fast-changing world. ASEM Day was initiated on the 1March 2017 to commemorate the 1st ASEM Meeting, which took place on the 1st March 1996 in Bangkok, Thailand. ASEM leaders have since decided to designate a day in March as “ASEM Day”. In order to highlight this, the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Swedish Institute of International Affairs and the European Commission representation in Sweden held a seminar to discuss how Europe can promote its connectivity and partnership with the Asia-Pacific.
